The Lord’s Luau for Leprosy – Orson Inspired T-Shirt
Only Reverend TimTom could make a church fundraiser sound like a tropical vacation.
Longtime fans of The Middle may remember one of Reverend TimTom’s wonderfully specific past events: The Lord’s Luau for Leprosy.
We never actually get to attend the luau. Instead, TimTom casually drops the name while picking up a ukulele at the Heck house, explaining that he hasn’t played one since the event. And somehow, that tiny reference tells you almost everything you need to know about the kind of wonderfully earnest—and occasionally ridiculous—church activities that follow the roving reverend wherever he goes.
This distressed, vintage-style design imagines the event shirt that The Lord’s Luau for Leprosy deserved: palm trees, tropical scenery, a ukulele and the unmistakable feel of a church fundraiser that committed completely to its theme.
There are no characters or episode titles printed on the shirt. It’s designed to look like you were actually there—even though the show never lets us see it.
To everyone else, it’s an unusually specific vintage church luau shirt. To fans of The Middle, it’s another wonderfully obscure Reverend TimTom reference.
A subtle, fan-created tee for people who remember the throwaway lines, church events, running jokes and tiny details that made the fictional world of The Middle feel so real.
